INSTALLATION: Universal Play Kiosk

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The popular Universal Play Kiosk, one of the SDF2015 Rumble installations, has moved to its new home at the Paul G. Allen building on UW campus. The Universal Play Kiosk aims to address the challenges of creating immersive, collaborative, technology-rich environments. We wish our space to accentuate team engagement, all-the-while supporting the technologies and positioning devices that we bring but not allowing those devices to take center-stage. Whether you require a wheelchair, a stander, a cane, or a cozy space under the table, this configurable space was designed with the goal of facilitating your participation.

The Taskar Center for Accessible Technology at the Computer Science & Engineering department of UW promotes independence, quality of life and inclusion for people with physical and speech impairments by use of new technologies, while being careful not to isolate end-users from their collaborators or correspondents inadvertently through the introduction of technology. Modularity affords adjustable displays on-the-fly, engaging anyone who may join. Colors, shadows, textures, and sounds provide a fun, sensory feast for all!
